I'm very interested in building a CNC machine for wood working and mayhaps some motion control ideas I have. Is there anyone doing such in the Washington DC area??

There are at least two hobby CNC groups that meet in the DC area. Both are part of or subsets of the CAMS group. Join the list serv. There was a CNC meeting tonight between DC and Baltimore.

Kevin, where in DC are you? I can help with the design, but I don't have a workshop or any tools in this area.
I live in Baltimore. I'm very busy, but if you get in touch with me I could always give you my advice as far as motion control and machine building goes.

Hello...
Hi guys,
I'm a newbie at CNC and I'm currently working on the electronics set up for servo motors.
glentner,
I just completed the build of my X3 with the CNC Fusion Deluxe Ballscrew Kit. Using Keling KL6050 Stepper Drivers and MACH3....everything seems to run...the axis have been calibrated.
Now, I looking for software to create parts with...looked at VCarve Pro last night and it does alot, but I could not figure out how to create stuff that is domed instead of flat on top, so I moved to MOI which seems to allow me to extrude, revolve, etc. looks like it will work....I'm working on the MOI tutorial.
In the future, I'll be adding a 4th axis (rotary-horizontal).
PM me your phone and address and I'll see when I can hitch a ride to see your VMC.
