Screw Tangs for MT2 or general MT Shank

    Hi All,

Just hope someone can point me in the right direction i have a heap of MT2 Shanks for my lathe, the ones that don't have a flat tang have a thread that looks like it would accept some form of tang with a thread on the end. Can anyone point me in the direction of (a) what is the correct name and (b) where I could buy them from.

    Thanks in Advance,
    Adrian

Yes and was looking at going down that path, just wasn't sure if the would be heat treated and didn't have anything hard like SS on hand.

But appreciate you taking the time to answer.

A Drill Tang gets heat treated when the rest of the Drill is heat treated some are in the 60s RC some are no more than 48 RC, so if you made them out of something like 4140 that would do as is, the tang is only there so the drill Etc does not turn in the taper, the one's you have where used in milling machines with a drawbar, there is very little load on the tang if the taper is good
