    Re: CNC router build

Well...i was going to make my own vacuum table but like always too busy with other stuff. So my wife said ....honey just buy one, so i did. Shipping from Germany is just crazy expensive though. Hope it works well for the price i paid!! It's just the table so i still need to sort the valves and vacuum pump...

    Re: CNC router build

I thought i would give a little feedback on the machine, now that i have been using it a lot. First the spindle motor is working great, the Sako drive is also performing very well. The machine itself is better than i ever expected....i still have to complete some work on the cabling and control panel. Reason for this delay is i am still deciding on e few things. The Aussie made bob is excellent....this is my choice from now on.

Made use of some bits of acrylic lying around and made the first terminal box for the x-axis stepper motor. Hope to do the other motors soon...

How is it attached to the motor? Did you drill and tap the back plate?

Hi, you'll need a 3D printer to make those parts...….there's no end to the fun you can have.....it opens up a complete new World...….I've just been bitten by the plastic bullet so nothing is going to get done now.

I used the existing two tapped holes, they had a tiny plastic bit holding the cable in place

    Re: CNC router build

Next step in the build will be to install brackets for the limits. For now i will add brackets but for version 2 of this machine it will be incorporated in the machine brackets. I have now had two guys asking me for a quote to build them a similar machine. Obviously they will get a neater and improved design....quoting and time to build is the challenge, my plan was to only build control panels for now due to time restraints

Hi, what are you using for the vacuum part? …...I just "found" a vacuum cleaner, sans the suction hose, on a nature strip and it still runs.

It's a Piranha Phantom model, 2,400 Watts and sucks like crazy.

The vaccy is so quiet it's almost silent at 3 metres distance.

They retail at about A$124.00 on EBAY.
