I know this vacuum pump issue has been thrown around to death (it's taken me days to reads through all the material out there) And I am leaning towards a DIY version of the blackbox as many have said it works good. However, I haven't found any real info on these types of pumps....

The prices, thanks to China, has come way down, and with the Canadian dollar so low vs the American, it's about the same price as 2 motors from Light house for the black box. There's a few vids on youtube and they seem to work, although they are in Chinese.

The specs convert to about 6.7"Hg, and 115 CFM.
Whether or not that's enough depends a lot on what you are doing.

This is a new machine, and I am thinking of making 4 - 2'X4" vacuum table "panels which can be turned on and off as needed. I plan to be 3-D carving interior and exterior door on the machine. So larger surface areas, but not solid surface areas.

One of the things I like about this pump over the Light house ones is it says "continuous duty". What that means may be up for discussion, but it has to be longer than the "intermitted " duty of the light house motors. The "blackbox" system seems to be pulling between 5hg and 10 hg depending on the user/application.
I am just not sure which direction to go, I only want to do this once......

I think that the pump in that video is probably much larger than 1.5Kw.

I'm pretty sure that whatever you do, you'll wish you had more vacuum.

If you are talking about stile and rail doors, you may be better off with a pod type system.
