    600v dc for induction furnace

    hello every one ..

    i have 600v dc source with high current can i make an induction furnace with it instead of 3-phase and how it would look like

    I don't think there's any requirement for 3-phase electricity to run an induction furnace. You generally start with a DC power supply and invert it to get high-current low voltage AC. Your source might work if you can transform it to the right specs. You might need to change the frequency as well, depending on how much metal you plan to melt at a time.     The power and frequency is usually designed around the nature of the work that requires heating, from a 100lb steel ingot using 120Hz to case hardening where high frequency is used, or a silver soldering applications.

    hello awerby..

    thanks for fast reply .. iam looking forward to make a medium sized furnace in order to make heat-treatment not a diy as mentioned in the graph.
    sorry iam a mechanical engineer and zero in electronics so iwant a detailed discription for the circuit ..
