​Hi, I am about as green as green can get on this cnc machining and one thing has me worried and that is an end of travel switch which I have purchased two types, one is a simple reed switch and the other is an optical. First which is better also what is the easiest and quickest way to install the switch?
I have a China 3020T and have purchased a Planet CNC MK 3/4 control board plus an Optocoupler and a UC100 Parallel Port adapter.

Well, first of all, the UC100 is not a parallel port adapter. It's a motion controller, similar to the Planet CNC MK3/4 board. You can't use both together.
The UC100 works with Mach3 or UCCNC software. The Mk3/4 works with Planet CNC software.
The first question is which will you be using?

I am going to try and remove the chinese controller and replace it with the MK3/4 controller
