Whats the difference between using an end mill to spot bore a hole and using an end mill to "qualify" a hole.
Spot drill> Drill> Spot Bore> Ream
vs.
Spot drill> Drill > "Qualify" > Ream
...asking for a friend..lol

I not sure of your wording, but if you where to use a Endmill after you drilled a hole and then reamed it, you normally end up with a better hole, the reason, the drill ( if not good quality, or sharpened correctly can be off the true position ) the Endmill would straighten the hole an machine it on position, the reamer would then follow that true hole better than a just drilled hole, sometimes this is a normal operation when wanting True Position Holes

Yes, i get all of that. Thank you
I re-read my post and the wording appears sound to me.
I had a disagreement with an associate yesterday, after i said that an end mill was going to go in and spot bore the hole before it gets reamed.
He said, "Its not spot-boring, its qualifying the hole".
I then said, "I'm pretty sure that's the same f***ing thing"
Then he looked at me as if i had a penis drawn on my face, and walked away.
Both terms are being incorrectly used, to spot bore a hole, would be just touching the top surface or making a small pocket, to qualify a hole would be to measures it with a probe or find it's coordinates, for true position
What you are doing by using a Endmill after drilling, you are using it to bore the hole, ( not spot boring ) the end mill will just straighten the hole and put it in true position, depending on the accuracy of the machine
