    Question Help understanding DC motor nomenclature such as RS-555

    I am starting to design a benchtop CNC for my garage. One of the first considerations are the "crude" spindle motor specifications such as the casing size and weight to begin to determine the size and weight of the tool carriage assembly. I thought searching for a spindle motor would be fairly straight forward but I ran across specs that I am not familiar with: rs-555, rs-755, hs-750, etc. Unfortunately, I can't find a glossary or website that breaks these specs down.

    Can anyone help with these? I know about 555 Timer circuits in electronics, is this a reference to that?

    Its the frame size.

    It has no bearing on spindle speed, voltage or power.
