But yes it does as long the the stepper motor driver is closing the loop and takes step and direction signals. That is, the encoder from the stepper motor plugs/connects to its driver. Posting an example of which motor/driver you want to use is most helpful, otherwise we are guessing at what you want to use.

Which is the same as every other step/dir controller.
