    Circular Problem In Tape (DNC)

The milling machine with the Mitsubishi controller, Meldas 64, performs linear commands well but smoothly slices the circular movements, and runs intermittently and with a delay.

it does happen when I use the TAPE with DNC Cable and when I want to use the machines memory( It's limited), works as well.

ALARM is: T10 Fin Wait 0004

What do I need to change, or what kind of things I need to do to solve this problem?
any help will be kindly appreciated

    With regards

It sounds like the machine is waiting for the controller to catch up. I have seen this before and the best way to solve the problem is to upgrade the controller to a more modern system.

Sir, thanks for your response but the machine works as well with internal memory at 7000 feed, but when want to use tape mode, it doesn't work more than 1600.
I think the controller can handle the full axis at 7000 (mm/min) and the processor sense encoders pulse. what do you think?

The real problem is that the communication is slow, and there is really no way to fix that. Is the CAM program creating circular moves as line segments? In other words all G1 moves? If your controller will handle G2 and G3 arc moves it should increase the speed communications because there is less data needed for the move. Try to set the CAM program to output G2 and G3 arcs rather than line segments.

Re: Circular Problem In Tape (DNC)

    Hello Dear Mr. Dawson

We use " Power-Mill 2017" as Cam program and yes, the CAM program creating circular moves as line segments.
Unfortunately, I can not find the setting place in my CAM program to set the output G2 and G3 arcs rather than line segments.

do you think is there any parameters, what would be affected to my problem?
as I attached the picture from the parameter explanation on the controllers.

I think this article will help. Solves the same problem that you are having.

    Dear Mr. Dawson
I test the program with G2 & G3 but there is no difference and the problem is the same.
I think the problem is in 1148 series parameters also I need to modify some of the Controllers parameters.

BTW, thank you very much & I kindly appreciate you.

I think you want to be looking in section 3 of the manual, I/O Parameters. Check the BAUD RATE, set at 19200 if possible. The computer will also have to be set for the same baud rate, normally 19200, N, 8, 1 The baud rate, parity, data, stop bit must match on both the machine computer and the PC.

Setting 1148 = 0 might help, but not sure about that.

The baud rate is 4800/databit 7/parety chek even, stop bit 1, same on PC and Controller also cam software.
    I try to 1148: 1 with/without G64 and 1148: 0 with/ without 1148.

the only difference appears when: 1148:1 without 64 and the machine works very very slow.

Re: Circular Problem In Tape (DNC)

I would try setting the communication at 19200, 7, E, 1 That should help if the machine will take the data at that speed. Maybe it is possible to create less complex tool paths with Power Mill. I have never used that program, so I can't help there. But there should be a way to turn off the adaptive machining functions.

    Dear Mr. Dawson
I test 19600 but the same problem is here. i also testes "SSS Mode Parameter Setting" Para: 8000/ Para 1132 , Para1258 . But there is the same problem and I need to test again to find the reason.

    Thank you

    with regards
