Not getting any input from PC to CNC Router - UCCNC UC300ETH UB1

    Hello everyone,

    Some quick machine specs:

    Control:

    Software Side:
    • Windows 7 PC
    • The UC300ETH is communicating with the PC. I am able to ping it and everything is set up as per the UC300ETH manual.
    • UB1 profile downloaded for UCCNC from CNCRoom.com and configured as per the UB1 manual regarding I/O, Axis, Spindle, Charge Pump, etc..

    Experienced Problems:
    • We are unable to jog the router using UCCNC. However, we are able to jog the easy servos manually via the Driver LED display.
    • We are getting the following RED fault codes in the diagnostics menu within UCCNC
    • Charge Pump1 - Flashing Red
    • PWM Spindle - Solid Red
    • All directional Axis pins are Offline

We commissioned a member here for assembly and wire up of all the electronic components. Attached are photos of the cabinet itself and the UB1 board with status LED lights. It seems that the issue we are currently experiencing is beyond the scope of the builder or we have not communicated the issue clearly.

We suspect that the reason for unresponsive UCCNC input is because the CP pin is not wired up hence the flashing fault in the UCCNC diagnostics menu.

Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

We are getting the following RED fault codes in the diagnostics menu within UCCNC
Red LED's on the diagnostic page indicates an active output, not a fault.

Is UCCNC recognizing the EC300ETH? There should be a blue LED on the UC300ETH, I don't see it?

If you don't have anything wired to the charge pump pin on the UB1, then why do you have the charge pump enabled?
Regardless, that's not likely the issue.

If you try to jog, are the DRO values changing?

    Can you post your profile?

And do you have a wiring diagram for your system?

    Hi Gerry,

    Answers below:
Red LED's on the diagnostic page indicates an active output, not a fault.
Understood. What does it mean if it is flashing? UCCNC was set up as per the UB1 manual. Since we did not wire up the system, we had assumed the builder followed the manual as well.
Is UCCNC recognizing the EC300ETH? There should be a blue LED on the UC300ETH, I don't see it?
On first start up, UCCNC prompted us to select the controller in use. We added the UC300ETH with UB1 profile downloaded from CNCRoom. Now that you mention it, I don't think we ever saw a blue LED.... Every other start up, UCCNC will not recognize the license file. However we keep restarting the program until it does. Reset button on lower right corner disabled
If you don't have anything wired to the charge pump pin on the UB1, then why do you have the charge pump enabled?
Regardless, that's not likely the issue.
UB1 Manual specified pin out for charge pump. Everything was set up as per manual default during trouble shooting.
If you try to jog, are the DRO values changing?
Yes, the DRO values change during jogging and "Home All".
    Can you post your profile?
Will be able to post the profile tomorrow night.
And do you have a wiring diagram for your system?
Can provide wiring diagram if available.

    Thanks!

On first start up, UCCNC prompted us to select the controller in use.
That means that UCCNC is not recognizing the UC300ETH, as it should auto detect it.

Try running the UCxxx_utility.exe in the UCCNC\Util\ folder. It should detect the UC300ETH.

UB1 Manual specified pin out for charge pump. Everything was set up as per manual default during trouble shooting.
Don't enable anything that you aren't actually using.

Yes, the DRO values change during jogging and "Home All".
You should be seeing the LED's on the UB1 at the step/direction wires while jogging. I don't think you are?

I suspect that UCCNC is not seeing the UC300ETH.

What version of UCCNC are you running?

Understood. Will disable Charge Pump settings.

Will try that tomorrow night as well. The step/direction LED's only come on during user input?
I suspect that UCCNC is not seeing the UC300ETH.
    Hope that is the case!

The LED's on the UB1 should light up anytime UCCNC is sending steps to the motors.

On first start-up, blue LED flashes briefly. UCxxx_utility.exe in Util folder detects the controller. Network settings and controller settings detect OK! connection

Upon start-up UCCNC ask me to select the right controller. However, it is no longer prompting me for license key. The UCxxx_utility.exe detects the controller and I could ping it with no problems.

    UCCNC v 1.2043

I have turned off the following:
Charge pump pins reset to 0 0
Spindle pins reset to 0 0

The Blue LED should remain on. If not, UCCNC is not connected to the UC300ETH.

And it should not be asking you to select the controller. UCCNC is not seeing the UC300ETH.
That's your problem, but I don't know the answer.

Thanks Gerry. I think you called it first. The good folks over at cncdrive also isolated it to that issue.

Just to follow up, the actual issue is that he received the wrong license file, that doesn't match the UC300ETH.

Yes, that is the latest development. I received the correct file yesterday and will update everyone tonight.

    Thanks again

Thanks for everything. It was indeed the wrong License file that was the root cause.
