Hi,

I have a solid cube and would like to put a hollow cylinder through it.
I am useing progeCAD 2007 witch should have similar commands as ACAD.

Create a solid cylinder and subtract it from the cube. If it's the same as AutoCAD, that is.

Dam that was easy.
I've been trying to figure it out for 2 days. I had hoped the solution would have been more involved so i would't feel so dense. Needless to say I am new to 3D.

From looking at ProgeCAD LT that I have installed here, it appears to be virtually identical to AutoCAD, except LT doesn't have solids. So I should be able to answer any questions you might have, based on my AutoCAD experience.

I started with an arch revolved it. Is it possibles to covert this entire entity to a solid.

I don't think so , but AutoCAD has both revolved surfaces and revolved solids. Check the help file. A revolved solid is created the same way as a revolved surface, just a different command. revsurf for surfaces, revolve for solids.

progeCAD does have revolve solid.
I will try that what should I start with when I use the revolve solid (2D lines and arc)?

It may require specific geometry, like a closed polyline. Not sure exactly, but this is what AutoCAD will let you use.

Hi Gerry,

What are the steps in AutoCAD to revolve a solid.
When I try it with progeCad I start with lines and arc closed, select revolve solid and I am not able to select the entity and command line asks for opposite corner.
(unfortunately not much help in the help files)

They might be entities that are not allowed. Does the help file say what can be revolved? In AutoCAD, you select the objects, and choose the axis of revolution.

I find that I am able to select a closed poly entity to solid revolve.I can choose the two axis then when I enter the revolution angle (360) I recieve this error message :1 selected curves are rejected.

Post a .dxf of what you're trying to revolve and I'll look at it. But I'm heading out the door, and won't be back til late.

In AutoCAD, if I revolve it as drawn , it creates a seperate surface for each line. But, if I join it all together using the pedit command, I can revolve it and get a solid. If you can't get it to work, draw a line for the axis of revolution and repost it, and I'll post the solid for you.
