    Best Coolant for Aluminium

just getting geared up for some large production run on CNC mill for 6061 Aluminium. With that, I would like to know what the general accepted best coolant for milling, drilling and tapping is?

Please respond with name, manufacturer and part # if you could please. I have used Milicron Cimcool and Fastenal Sharpcool synthetic BLUE. What else would you guys recommend?

    Thanks, John

    John,

I've never heard of Castrol SW3505..might be a European thing..

We use Castrol Clearedge 6519..with good results..
(Note: The opinions expressed in this post are my own and are not necessarily those of CNCzone and its management)

Yes, maybe it is. I don't know.
It is oil based and you mix it with water up to something like 6-8%.
    It works ,I know that.

Does your mill have high pressure coolant? And how high does it go? You would be better to run a water-miscible oil for Aluminum, if you want the best finishes possible. I work for Blaser Swisslube and I would recommend that you look at two products; Blasocut 2000 Universal, or BC20SW for high pressure. Both of these products are available at your nearest Blaser dealer. Blasocut 2000 Universal can be mixed with city water (depending on the quality) and BC20SW would be better mixed with R.O. or D.I. water. Please feel free to visit us at www.blaser.com

    Best regards,
    Coolant Guy.
