    Granite surface plate mounting

Hey guys, Im in the market for a granite surface plate, and I don't have a level table I can put it on. So I figured I would need a mount for my granite surface. But the mount and granite plate together is pretty expensive. I was wondering if I took three leveling feet turn them upside down and hold the plate with the rubber ends and mount it on my table. I have a very accurate level and I can use the leveling feet to make the surface plate level as well regardless of the table

Well, three legs is not a smart choice, as the plate is usually very heavy!
Then putting a vise or an expensive instrument on it, just to have it tip and dump everything on the floor! Wow!!
Steel legs made from pipe fittings would be the strongest of the cheapest paths to take!

Depends on the size of the granite....
My countertops in my kitchen sure don't fall, but I'd be a lot more concerned if a 5x8 starrett was sitting on wood.

Depends on how large the surface plate is. I have a 24x18x4 that sits on the end of my work bench. I built a nice heavy 3/4 inch plywood box that covers it. There is no need to have a surface plate perfectly level unless you are planning to somehow use a level on it to measure parts. It is common to 3 or 5 point mount surface plates, depending on size, but unless you are setting up a metrology lab, I don't see the need on smaller plates. I think your leveling feet idea would work fine, but really overkill.
