    Hi,
I'm just hooking up my mill on a 3phase converter and it has transformers on side of machine from the previous owner does anyone have an idea why I'm no electrician but obviously, the way they have them hooked up is to step down the volts so it's not overpowered and my American rotary phase converter produces what its suppose to. Do I even need the transformers? thanks for any input

If it's a DC machine, why not just run it on 220 single phase? L1 & l3 to your hot legs and jumper l1 & l2. Any rotary phase converter is going to give you a wild leg, the generated leg. Turn it on and check to ground, I'll bet it's somewhere in the neighborhood of 280 volts and will vary with load. If you do decide to use the rotary, be sure the generated leg is connected to l2, the center leg on the disconnect.
