    Servo Drive Name Plate Queston

I'm looking at the name plate for a servo drive A06B-6096-H106 (SVM1-130). I'm confused over the ratings on this amp. The descriptions manual shows the nominal current limit to be 130 amps. The rated output is 52.2 amps. Now I'm getting old, and this is probably an issue with some deceased brain cells, but isn't the nominal current supposed to be the general operating range and the rated current the maximum? I always thought that the nominal current should show equal to or less then the rated current. The chart shows the nominal current as Ap, which I take it to mean the peak amps. The rated current has Arms, which I take to be the normal running current. This seams backwards.

The continuous rated current is 52.2A. Permissible max current is 130A, intermittent.

I agree. It's the wording that is confusing. There seems to be some confusion on the web as to the meaning of Nominal and Rated current. My thinking was that Nominal was the normal operating current while Rated was the maximum. If that is the case, Nominal should be less than Rated. From what I see on the name plate, what you said is correct. While the values are correct, the terminology in the descriptions manual seems backwards.

By ''nominal'' I assume they mean that is approximately where it folds back or faults. You are correct that the wording is a bit confusing. But it is translated from Japanese.

The crux is in Fanuc's use (correct or not ) of [Arms] and [Ap]. They intersperse value types in some rather peculiar ways compared to most manufactures. But if you use the understood meaning of those types in this case it does make sense.

You tell the Japanese that they're wrong. Good luck with that!
    Thanks for the reply.
