Is this servo a good substitute for a milling machine spindle motor?

    I have a RF-45 clone.

    https://tinyurl.com/yca3wpky or similar?

I want to do a belt drive in my CNC conversion and I've priced vfd + induction motors at $350. For $500 a servo would seem more useful down the track, as well as a bit lighter.

    Any advice appreciated, thanks.

If the servo drive is good then it would work well, and a lot better than the motor they have, another one to look at is DMM, which may be a similar price better quality

DMM | AC SERVO DRIVE | AC SERVO MOTOR | ROTARY ENCODER

The only thing you have to watch for is your voltage supply, servo drives are sensitive to over voltage, so something to check is your voltage and the Servo Drive requirement's
