    No....what is this? You never put it on the list above.

    What are 200 and 209?

    It's also in what you posted about your VFD and Spindle, first you enter PD200=65535 then this should give you access to Change PD209

    But what does that do to the vfd?

    Mactec is correct this was not done very well. First check the incoming voltage it should be 220v to 240v and that is normally connected toR and S. If you have the right incoming voltage something probably died in the VFD. Mantec has worked on lots of these units.

    Thanks Russ. Think I'm reaching the same conclusion too.

    You say connect to R and S .....He said connect to R and T....im confused now.

    Is it worth replacing this unit for another identical one or another brand? Can you recommend others?

    As I said they can be wired single phase to any 2 terminals, R and T has been the most successful way to wire these VFD Drives, there are other manufactures that require to be wire to there spec's only, you have no choice like these cheaper drives

    Tried all you have suggested and the error remains.

    potts,
    Did you check the incoming voltage is it between 220v to 240v? Is so you had something die in the VFD. These Huanyang VFDs are probably the cheapest units you can find, but you might want to consider a Hitachi, lots of people get those they usually cost about $75 more but the quality and the manuals are much better. You need the one for the 2.2KW spindle based on what you posted previously. Search the zone and you will find the exact model number. Since this is low voltage error you might have only lost components in the VFD itself, many times the VFD and Spindle both go at the same time. I would take an ohm meter and unplug the Spindle and measure from the case (ground) to each of the phase pin connectors to ensure the spindle is no internally shorted, especially prior to attaching a new VFD.

    Ok....what reading should I expect to see at each pole?

    A bit more than $75 more...

    Huanyang = $135.
    Hitachi = $325

    The readings from each pole to ground should be pretty much open, meaning no reading. Then when you measure between each phase you should get something 2-3 ohms a low reading. You are trying to verify that no phase got shorted to the ground case of the spindle. Sometimes that happens when a spindle is run too slow and the wire gets so hot is melts the insulation and the short results. These spindles are designed to run from 6000 rpm to 24,000 rpm. In fact the VFD should be programmed so the lowest frequency is 100hz, which equates to 6000 rpm.

    Gerry,
    Wow, the Huanyang got lots cheaper than when I purchased mine a long time ago. The $325 for the Hitachi should about right from what I recall, so that has not moved very much. I got mine as a spindle vfd combo so probably why my view was outdated.

    What is the model of the Hitachi? I've been quoted £340 for a Vacon 20. I'm hoping there's something cheaper.

    The Drive then is most likely damaged, it sounds like the current sensor has failed, higher quality VFDs can be more forgiving, but if the wiring to the spindle is not corrected the same thing could happen

    Do you mind me asking what is wrong with the earth? It is connected on the top and at the vfd?

    No it is poorly connected on top, the plug body has a insulator between it an the main body of the spindle, this is how your spindle should be connected, most of these spindles need the 4th pin connected this is what is needed, it's not only your Ground that is not connected correct, the cable shield also need to be connected, which is not
