    Fanuc OM-C Fourth axis.

I was asked to add a fourth axis to a mill we have. I have the drive, motor and cables. I have the 4 axis card in the machine already. To bring up the 8000 series parameters for the fourth axis, do I have to bring it up in IPL mode and enter number of axis =4? Is IPL mode holding (. and -) keys at power on?

    Thanks, :withstupi

No IPL in OM, change PWE to a 1. Many parameters to change. Did the machine have a 4th axis on it before or is this a new add on?

You will need to enter the tuning and CMR/DMR parameters, also is the operator panel set up for it, homing switches etc? This is done in the PMC (ladder).
Do you have a parameter manual, or need one?

    Well.....

It didn't have the 4th axis originally.....the control does have the four axis servo board (original) and GEFanuc service said I should be able to do it. What do I have to do to get the 8400 parameters to come up? My parameters are stopping at 8399. Will the 8400's come up after I turn on another parameter? I have a parameter manual and it has all kinds of parameters for the 4th axis but the 8400 servo parameters are not coming up on screen. And yes I have the proper keypad with jog buttons etc.....
Do I have to turn on a 900 parameter for this? If so, wich one and how?

I don't see anything in the 900's that mention parameters.
    Also I don't see any above 8399?
The 900 I have that are not verified are 907 #3 is Additional axis control and 915 #5 which is 5 axis control.
The PWE bit is set to 1 in MDI to change the 900 parameters.

    Re: Fanuc OM-C Fourth axis.

We have a Halbronn CU1 machining center with a FANUC OM control. The machine came with an original 4th axis but it has been deactivated by the first owner. After we acquired the machine, we got the 4th axis (NIKKEN C100) and I activated the 4th axis in the 900 parameters but we lack the 8400 parameters to configure the drive so that we don't get the error drive not detected mesage.

    Could anyone help me please?

Find the ID of the motor and look in the maintenance manual and find the standar parameters for the motor and fill in the parameters

Good morning Sir, First of all thank you for your reply. Indeed I found the motor reference and figured out the standard paramerts from the manual (most of them I guess) but so far I did not have the opportunity to try them out because the machine was busy. So as far as I understand, there is not risk in trying out standard parameters? Just input them and activate the 4th axis and have a go?
