    K2 CNC 1045 V.2

Hi, I'm trying to get a K2 CNC 1045 V.2 running using mach 3. we've got the endstops and the e-stop working, but we're having trouble with getting the motors to turn. currently, when the controller is powered on, the steppers lock and whine. I'm assuming this is normal? also, i'm not sure which pins on the parallel port are assigned to which motors. I turned off everything except the x axis in mach 3 and tried all possible combinations of pins 2-9, with no luck. could it be that i'm using a store-bought printer cable instead of a parallel cable with a null modem? is a null modem required for this? any advice is hugely appreciated!!

    thanks in advance!

These are the most common assignments

    Pin2 Step X
    Pin3. Direction X
    Pin4. Step Y
    Pin5. Direction Y
    Pin6. Step Z
    Pin7. Direction Z
