    Help with a Spoilboard Grid

I want to make a Grid on my spoilboard but I can't seem to control the Depth of a V-Bit.

    Any "words of wisdom" here?

Maybe I'm going about it the wrong way so...set me straight!

    Thanks

Assuming your Z is not moving while cutting, is the spoil board laying flat on the table?

You need to tell us exactly what you are trying to do.
Meaning how are you programming the toolpaths?

Re: Help with a Soilboard Grid

I thank you guys fr responding, both of you.

I have designed a GRID in Vectric Aspire and am outputting in Mach3. My issue is setting the depth in the toolpath, I want the GRID to be very shallow, maybe 1/16th inch. From all the YouTube videos I've seen I don't understand how to do that.

The spoilboard has been surfaced and te router has been recently tramned. It is pretty darn flat to begin with.

Can I use a 60 degree bit or do I need a "skinnier" bit?

A 60° bit will give you a width of about 0.072 wide at 0.625 depth. Not sure what you are really asking here. Do you want the width wider than that?

In Aspire, use a Profile Path, ON the vector, with your V Bit. Just tell it the depth you want.

PROFILE...now I understand. I was using the "VCarve" setting & like Gary said it was way too deep.

I'll try it in a few minutes! Thanks again guys!
