Need serious help setting 0,0,0 in Mach3

OK, here is how I set 0,0,0, with my Anilam controlled mill. When the machine is booted up, it is at 0,0,0. If I want to change the position, I can manually change x,y, and z, zero out all 3, load my program, hit auto, push start and my program starts running. I am having trouble with the machine coordinates and the work coordinates when setting 0,0,0 in mach3. I would like to somehow turn off the machine coordinates option all together because it seems to always have a memory and returns to the previous 0,0,0, so when I load a new program in a different place, instead of starting the program at the new 0,0,0, it goes back to the previous 0,0,0,. I can't seem to zero out both the work place and the machine dro references. Does anyone know how to get rid of the machine coordinates program altogether as even when I am at 0,0,0, in work space or as Mach3 calls it, offset, it seems to want to take off somewhere else. What I want is to know that when the red light is out, meaning not in machine coordinates, I am in workspace coordinates, that is where I can start my program and not worry about it taking off to some different coordinates. I want it to act like my Anilam, when it says 0,0,0, that is really where it is and not in some memory bank. If I haven't made myself clear, please ask me some questions to clear this problem up. I would really appreciate some help. I am not doing production work, so I don't need any offset memory locations and I have tried to get rid of the G54, G55, codes, but to no avail. How do I do this? Please help, Robert Brown.

If you don't have home switches, press the ref all button to zero the machine coordinates before zeroing the work coordinates.

OK, it works now, and when I boot up, both machine and workspace is 0,0,0,, but when I move to another spot and try to ref all zero, it doesn't work, so when I jog to a new spot, I have to get out of the program and boot up again and then the machine and the workspace is at 0,0,0, this will work, but is there a setting or something in config. that will allow me to set the machine coordinates back to 0,0,0,? without having to get out of Mach3 and then reboot? Thank you very much, as this is better than it was before, thank you, you don't know how much I thank you, Robert Brown.

Hi the idea of work coordinates is that you can use different places on the bed, and each place you can call 0 0 0
Check on the home page or main screen that you are in work coordinates and not machine coordinates

By and large one does not use machine coords except for something like a tool changer.
As I don't have an ATC, I never use machine coords. Forget them.

That is what I thought, but there must be a setting that has ran amuck, because when the machine coordinates are not set at 0,0,0, along with work coordinates, when running a program, it will takeoff for the machine coordinates and not the work coordinates. The way that I am doing it now, with the settings that I have, is that when I have a new position, when I boot, both coordinates have to be 0,0,0, and then I can procede with the program. I think that what you are saying is that, no matter what the machine coordinates are, as long as one is in work coordinates and they are 0,0,0, a new program will start from there, that would be nice for me, but it doesn't work, I have to go out of Mach3 and then boot up again and then both machine and work are 0,0,0,, thanks everyone, I guess that I will have to review the manual and see if there is a setting that I can check to resolve this problem. Re install your MACH 3 software, if all things fail, I can give you my Mach3Mill XML file, copy / paste it on your Mach 3 folder then voila! problem solved, you just need to do the (XYZ) recalibration again on your machine because im sure it will stall somewhere along the way if you dont fine tune it

it will takeoff for the machine coordinates and not the work coordinates.
Your G-Code probably has moves in Machine Coordinates.
Are there any lines with a G53 in them?

I thank you, but before I do that, could you tell me in config and settings what you have checked in the DRO section please, or if you could send me a picture of the whole settings page, that may solve the problem, thanks Bob.

Here are some screen shots. 1.home screen using work coordinate system G54 2. Home screen using machine coordinates (machine coordinates button with red square)
    3. Settings page, note that the encoder settings are the same as the home screen in picture 1
    Hope this helps,

Thank you and the only difference with yours is that mine would be 0,0,0, in the workspace. Then I proceed to my program. I can live with the way that it is now, but would like to be able to 0,0,0, the machine coordinates without exiting and rebooting Mach3, I will keep playing with it to see if I can do this, thanks again. Bob.

You shouldn't have to. Clicking Ref All should zero the Machine coordinates any time, and as many times as you want. You shouldn't need to restart Mach3.

I agree with you. I am going to have to hunt around and find the setting that allows me to do that. As it is now, I can push all ref. all day and it doesn't reset machine coordinates to 0. So, I will keep looking, could someone please send me a screen shot of the settings page where all of the check boxes are, maybe I can see something there that would solve the problem, thanks again everyone for their kind help, Bob.

There is no setting that I know of that would prevent you from homing the machine.

Thank you, this will help. I have already looked at the settings page and already see some settings that are different, so I will try them. This will be very helpful and thank you very much. I will let everyone know if there is an improvement, Bob.
