the treadmill motor is one , but there kindah expensive when you add the cost of importing it from china or wherever ebay finds them used (usually the states ) there allso briushed motors
i have seen huge steppermotors been used as drivemotors and there small but there allso pretty expensive and i cant understand how to get them to work electricly (powersupply size , how to hook up the driver so it works as a stand alone unit , stuff like that ) the bigger ones run on weird dc voltages and usually dont come with the powersupply
another option i have been thinking about is using a chinese watercooled 2.2 Kw spindle motor
to fit it i need to make a new front plate with a flange so i can mount it on top of the machine , thats eazy enough
the thing that makes it harder is : i want to put a pulley and a keyway over the axle in place of the chuck , and the axles in the machine have tread tapped ontoo them and are hollow pretty far up intoo the axle
yes i could stick an axle in the chuck and mount the pulley to that but then the whole thing gets a bit high on top of the machine , it allso puts more un nessesairy force on the lower bearings
does anyone know if the axle from a chineese spindle motor can be pushed out of its rotor and replaced or is there a solid axle version available (allready mailed a few chinese supplyers but no luck so far )
i allso be interested to get my hands on a (cheap / free) used chinese spindle , doesnt need to be a working one , its mostly to see if i can fill the axle with weld and then remachine it back to round / straight and put a keyway in it without damaging it beyond repair
