Hi everyone,

does anyone know if a 5000 mW or 7000 mW diode laser can cut 8mm cellulose acetate? Or cut it at all?

Hi there,

You can try your luck, I've seen a 2500mW diode laser cut a 1mm thick glass after several rounds of slicing with the laser.

Cellulose Acetate sheets have a melting point of about 225F.

You might need to cut back and forth more times, or your movement with the laser should be slower as you cut through to allow more heat.

in the meantime I purchased a 50W CO2 laser, which does the job superbly!
