    Hitiachi VFD NE-S1 - Spindle running at low rpm

    Hello,
    I am pretty new to all this CNC stuff. I have been working on trying to figure out if the old Chinese spindle is still good. It is a 220v 10amp 2.2K water cooled spindle. I bought a Hitatchi NE-S1 inverter and have been trying to program it.

    I have tried to run the spindle a few times. If I have A001 (freq. source) set to 2 and F001 set to 400, the spindle will run but idles at around 50-55(im assuming hz?). If i set f001 to less than 400, say 300 I get Error code 30.

    I checked the resistance from phase to phase on the motor and there was little to no resistance between each leg.

    These are my current settings:
    A001 2
    A002 2
    A004 400
    A003 400
    A082 220
    B012 10
    H003 2.2
    H004 2
    F001 400
    A061 400
    A062 120

    Any help would be great!

    Don't keep running it at the low RPM you will damage the spindle motor, 6,000 RPM is the minimum speed this spindle can run without damage, I only see one the A001=0 that needs to be 0

    F001=400

    A001= 00

    F001=400

    A001= 00

    Thanks for the reply, Mactec.
    I'll try changing A001 in the morning. I believe I tried this and it disabled f001 and would still not spin faster than 40 to 60hz with no ability to speed up or slow down because it never reaches the min (A062) of 120hz.

    If I run the VfD without the spindle attached it ramps up to 400hz no problem.

    Should I assume it is the spindle? The VFD is brand new. I bought the spindle used with no confirmation it worked.

    Check the Pins at the spindle with a meter for continuity
    1-2
    2-3
    3-1
    and Ground pin to the spindle body

    Check wiring U V W some of these spindles are fussy as to how they are wired, if the spindle is ok then there must be a Parameter that is not set correct

    U=Pin=1
    V=Pin=2
    W=Pin=3

    I did the continuity test on the motor
    There is very little to no resistance between 1-2, 1-3, and 2-3.
    Ground pin is grounded to the body and has no continuity between 1,2, an 3.

    Could there still be something wrong internally in the motor?

    I also made sure the pins were correct as well as switched them around.

    With A001 at 00, I am able to adjust the speed of the spindle with the dial but only between 35-60hz.

    I would say that there is a Parameter that needs to be changed, it is only reading the Drive Default setting, all the main Frequency settings need to be 400Hz, there is one that is at 60Hz and needs to be 400Hz

    Check A003

    The Error Code 30 is saying that your wiring may be faulty, you have excessive noise, how have you wired the spindle to the VFD Ground and Shield connections
