Hello,

I have a universal laser (VERSA) system, and another larger system (both tubes dead). Everything else works great, but i don't want to spend the 2 grand to recharge the tubes. Would it be possible to swap in a solid state 15w diode based system such as this:

I think you will find that blue laser is woefully underpowered for anything other than engraving wood and plastic.

As a side note, would you be willing to part with/sell one of those units? I'm in the market for a co2 laser setup.

While it's no higher power co2 laser, videos on youtube seem to show it work well enough for $200-$350 bucks. 15 watt laser apparently is only 8 watts average. No, none for sale yet.

There is a 40 watt installed in it now. Cost to refill it is $2k. If it requires anything more the price shoots way up. I bought both machines for less than $1000 each. I don't cut enough stuff to justify a refill (right now), but a retrofit to solid state would be adequate enough to atleast give me functionality for cheap.

I did find a service on ebay, user name laser-tech, who will refill laser tubes for $850. Significantly less than the quoted $2000 from synrad or universal laser systems. They have 100% feedback and many reviews, plus a real shop on the east coast. I'm going to go that route first.
