We have been running a new DMU 50 for about a year now. Any tricks to get jobs ran thru the machine faster and better? Setup is painfully slow with the whole tool loading process and the 60 tool chain. Tool changes can be slow if cut times are short because the machine stops and waits for the pot to get to location with the next tool because it goes thru all 60 to get to the next tool. We are using tool descriptions and that takes time both in CAM and at the machine typing all that in. Trying to get a chatter free cut takes forever fiddling with speeds and cuts. I can take something that runs nice on a Fadal or Haas and it will chatter on the Mori. We are using HSK shrink tooling in the Mori and ER holders in the 3 axis machines. We thought we were going to cut down our part times going from 6-8 ops on a 3 axis to 2 on the 5ax but that has not been the case. It also seems easier to hold tolerances on the 3 axis machines vs the Mori and it has scales.
