first time using a compression bit on wood, looking for advice

so i was finally able to convince my boss to buy a compression bit, its a whiteside solid carbide compression bit, 1/4 cut 1/4 shank, can compression bits be plunged into the cut like the other bits, i have seen other posts about ramping into the cut and im wondering if that is something i have to worry about with a compression bit, i would like to avoid any potential failures if possible as this is my first time using a compression bit, im running a kongsberg xn and have always plunged into my cuts without any problem

im using the compression bit to cut 4" coasters out of 6mm plywood and the current settings i have for this are
    rpm - 15,000
    ipm - 125

I think I told you before, always ramp if possibly.

I think 15,000rpm is on the high side.

How are you holding your parts down? If you are able to hold them down, then cut in one pass, cutting about .005" into the spoilboard. the bit will last longer if you can go a bit deeper.
