Hi,

I have been looking for this linear shaft support, i'd call it a support foot? everywhere and cannot find one, I might be calling it by the wrong name or the few cad diagrams that I have seen it in, the parts might have been machined.

Any help before I go bald is appreciated. Of I need one for 25mm dia shaft with mount holes 40mm apart.

I've never seen those for sale anywhere. Why not just use the continuous supported shafts that are readily available, and would better support the shaft?

I am buying the linear shaft from misumi as I can get the ends tapped and it has cross drill holes for the supports, but they do not sell shaft supports. I am on a tight budget and it might be hard to line up the supports with the cross drilled holes on the shaft, but that's the alternative.

My gut feel is that the designer of that build has made those supports himself. I thought about 3d printing them until I build the machine then i can cut them myself. Alternatively I could get them made, need to get an online quote.

I also don't mind the idea of support feet in this case as alignment will be dominated by the accuracy of the routing of the y-axis side frame rather than the accuracy of a cheap support. This is my first build so i may be way off base.

Round rods are expensive, and so are the specially-machined support rails under them.
So buy 10 round rods and 1 support rail, and chop up the support rail into short bits.
Saves money.
Betcha that's the reason.
