Most of the Joe's 2006' builds here on the log use the hitachi including my own. I personally wanted to go Porter Cable but the Hitachi router is absolutely the best bang for the buck hands down. Its a sweet router.

    re router hitachi

I doubt it, they are pretty reasonable for what they are. And in my experience porter cable products in general are very well made and constructed of solid materials. Plus their support is pretty awesome. I wouldn't ever use the hitachi for anything more than a spindle, it's got a pretty cheap base, but none the less makes a pretty damn good spindle!

Seems like you're taking a low-hassle middle-road EXPENSE VS TIME. Kinda what I'm thinking of doing. The picture has a perspective that makes me want to confirm that your WORKING width is a clear 37", is that right?

If so, this is just about perfect since my desire is 32x48.

Any chance you'll make some crude drawings and materials list and sources?

Can you translate that 3 weeks into actual hours?
Any kind of exotic shop machines you're using that lowers your hours?
    Any cost forecasts yet?

    Hi mar999,

I wondered if you were worried about flexing in your 37" axis. I could be wrong, but that seems like a large unsupported span, especially for 3/4" rails. I'd hate to see it disappoint you later considering the great work and money you've put in so far. Wish I had the funds for some of those components.

Regarding the Keling hardware. What combo did you buy? Stepper torque and drivers are of interest to me. Did you get the package?

Oh and what TPI is your leadscrews?
