    Question for Clearpath servo users...

I'm currently using steppers and have panel mount DB-9 connectors that I have mounted on my control box that the stepper cables plug in to.

For those of you using Clearpath servos, how are you connecting/passing the cabling into your control boxes? Are there panel mounts available for the different ports or are you just passing the cables through holes and hard wiring?

Why not just put a DB-9 connector on the end of the Clearpath cable? Or get a DB-9 breakout and wire the cable to the screw terminals

Yes, that would certainly work and was the kind of info I was looking for. And of course it wouldn't have to be a DB-9 breakout, could be any of a number of different connectors available.

On mine, I used their their cables and then from DigiKey ordered the mating Molex connectors and pins.

Are the DB-9's capable of carrying the required current?

Gerry, the Clearpath servos have a seperate power cable. The DB-9 connector should only be carrying a few mA of signal current.

Likely not. I'd use something more appropriate.

Surprisingly, regular DB9 connectors are rated at 3 to 5 amperes per pin. I'm not saying it's a good idea to use them for power, but it's been done (including my own projects).
