Dumb question. What you are doing for the hole for the 1/4" smart stop dowel pins used on the carve smart jaws? Are you drilling and reaming for press fit or slip fit?

Dumb question. What you are doing for the hole for the 1/4" smart stop dowel pins used on the carve smart jaws? Are you drilling and reaming for press fit or slip fit?

I just use a 6.20 mm drill bit and once the hole is done, I tap the dowel in with a Nylon mallet.

I need to pick up a pair of these. Forgot what a pita it is pull jaws off and replace with soft-jaws then change back. But I am stunned at the cost for the hardened Jaw set tho!
About same price to buy another vise and use one for carve smart and other vise for hardened Steel jaws.

I bought 2 Tormach CNC vises about a year and a half ago and immediately took the hardened steel jaws out and replaced them with aluminum soft jaws.

Aluminum jaws are much easier on tools if you program a bad move.
