Question Did I destroy my ways?

I bought a 5019 CNC and things were great. Then they weren't. Turns out I was not using transmission fluid as oil like I thought. I was using some weird additive instead:

Cleans and lubricates sticking? Sounds good!

So yeah, now my ways look like this:

The shiny part is where the brass gib slides. Everything else feels coarse. I can't wipe it off with acetone or WD40. Not sure what that is at this point. Is it just scratched up?

    Thanks!

It doesn't look that bad to me. When you reanointed it with the proper lubricant, did it move smoothly?

I can't feel it binding up. I don't remember how easy the motion was when I first got it, it seems like it may be a bit more difficult now. I am mainly concerned about it getting worse over time if I continue to use it as-is. Otherwise I would be fine.

You might check the tightness of the gibs; rock it a little and see if it moves. If so, it probably needs adjustment. Here's a video that shows you how: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHMS9FBBsx4 Run a sample program, and see if it loses steps. If not, lube it well and just keep using it until something does go wrong. If worse comes to worst, you can get new parts from Taig for reasonable prices - they don't gouge you for repair parts.
