Fanuc 10T Lost Connection to Machine

I have an old cnc lathe, EMI MEC 42 from 1985. The machine is equipped with a Fanuc 10T controller.

Now to the problem. Last time when I started the machine I found some problems. The machine starts as usual, but it seems like the connection between the controller and hardware has been lost. All menus and everything at the controller works as usual.

Here are some symptoms that I've recorded:

    * No error codes are recorded.
    * It seems like the jog function works when looking at the monitor (movements are showed), but nothing happens at the machine.
    * The only message I can get from the machine is that I have to go to reference point, which is impossible when nothing moves. This message is always showed when the machine starts up.
    * It seems like the controller accept when I try to start the spindle through MDI, but the spindle wont turn.
    * It seems like the controller will process programs very fast, without making any real moves.
    * Hard buttons for tool change and tail stock works as usual with correct movements.
    * Everything worked when I used the machine last time.

I think it's very strange that the controller can process programs when nothing happens at the machine and no error codes are recorded. Everything seems to work when looking at the monitor. It feels that the controller has got into some kind of simulation mode or similar.

I will really appreciate all the help I can get to make my machine work again.

what is in G104.0 and G104.7
G104.0 (AFL) - auxilary function lock signal
G104.7 (MLK) - machine lock signal
    - depress NC/PC button on the fanuc panel
    - depress PMC DGN button under display
    - type in G104 and depress SEARCH under display

Thank you very much for a well written response. It sounds logical that something like this could be wrong. I will check as soon as I get home (monday morning).

What should the parameters look like? Does 1 mean engaged and 0 not engaged? Is it possible to just change these parameters if they are engaged?

these signals must be 0 in non-lock state
    ladder acts them
you also can check ladder if press PMC LAD instead of PMC DGN
then type in G140.0 (G140.7) and press SEARCH-W

Re: Fanuc 10T Lost Connection to Machine

Thank you again for your explanation. Now I've made some searches for the G104.0 and G104.7 in both "PCDGN" and "PCLAD", but have not found the parameters. It seems like this parameter goes from G0000 to G0047, when I scroll down the registry.

Does this mean that I don't have these functions or is it possible that the functions have different addresses?

Re: Fanuc 10T Lost Connection to Machine

Thank you so much guhl! Now the machine is up and running.

With your help I could track the problem to "Machine Lock". I have this switch on my panel, but never used it. When I flipped it on and off several times, the machine started to work. The switch was very slow at the beginning, with a lot of old cutting fluid passed by the years.

    And again, THANK YOU!

Fanuc 10T Lost Connection to Machine

My Hitachi Seiki HT-25 with FANUC 10T control seems to be locked up in MDI. I can home machine I think. It homes. No LED lights work anymore. Go to MDI and try everything. I get start rejected or something like that. Been fighting this issue 3 days now. Had to comment to be able to find this post in the morning. Any advice or assistance would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    check signal *SP (G0.5)
    have a look in ladder
usually lubrication absence causes this alarm

I can't add the link, but google knows this alarm (fanuc start rejected)

Figured out cause. Every contact was glazed over on control buttons. Minimal movements of EStop, Hold, Starts, all those damb buttons on the front of the control would lose contact with a wiggle. After inspecting and cleaning every button. I've got machine life again.
