Mori Seiki SL 7 - Zero Return not working

    Hi Friends ,

I have Mori Seiki lathe SL 7 with Fanuc 6T - B control. Zero return for both axis is not working by selecting zero retun mode and moving the axis using jog switch. It does not catch zero point and hitting the limit. But, in MDI mode, using code, it is able to zero return in both axis. Can anybody help to solve this problem in zero return mode ? Thanks

So it worked a few days ago and now it wont home? Or, you have never ran this machine before? Does it not move at all in zero return mode?

Thanks for your reply. The machine had problems in spindle motor and drive. They were replaced. The machine was down for one year for some other problems also. Only few days before, I have taken over this machine. Previously, there was ER2 alarm on operating panel. I found it was due to reference return problem. Now, reference working in MDI mode. ER2 error is not there. The machine is working ok in auto mode. Still, the program downloading from laptop is not working. All the parameters are same as original values. Battery backup is ok. Though machine not working for one year, it was kept on everyday and tried some manual dry movements. Thanks.

Re: Mori Seiki SL 7 - Zero Return not working

I have found the mode selector switch is not working , when it is selected for zero return mode. Corresponding input bit 101.7 is not changing to 1 from 0 when checked in Diagnosis page. So, it could be either switch or wire problem. So, I hope , I can solve this problem now and this thread will be useful to some people who have similar problem. Thanks.
