Re: Brand new DYN4 400W set - goes in Overcurrent fault as soon as motor is connected

    Hello,

I'm trying to wire up 2 of the same DYN4 400w 200v (lathe setup). Most people are telling me just to wire it up for 120vac. I've got access to 220vac just as easily.

    So, I have 2 questions:

    1. Which voltage do you guys recommend (and why)?
    2. Which magnetic contactor should I use for 120vac or 220vac?

From what I read I need my model requires 1 - 10a 120vac (DIN mount in my case) magnetic contactor per controller. Can anyone recommend a part # for me?

Also, apparently the noise filters are "optional" when going with 120v but I already purchased a couple along with a line reactor. I prefer to go with "better to be safe, than sorry".

I have no idea why I'm having such a hard time with this - ugh!

    I greatly appreciate any info/advice.

    Cheers!
    -Sam

If you are asking only about the contactor, there are 3 parameters to concider. Switching voltage, switching current, and coil voltage. Most contactors are rated at a minimum of 250V, switching current is stated as is the coil voltage. The switching voltage and current need to be compatible with the drive, the coil voltage needs to be compatible with your control voltage.

An example of contactors that would work.

Don't forget to add the proper circuit breakers ahead of the contactor(s) per the DMM installation instructions.

You need the power filters no matter what voltage you use

You only need ( 1 ) contactor as long as it can handle the current for the ( 2 ) drives

Either voltage will work 240v is always going to be better if you have it
