I am needing to replace my old Hermes pantograph engraver. I am considering a DIY build as I am quite capable with Linuxcnc and have all of the drive components. I run a cnc plasma cutter and mill daily so the programming part is easy for me. My biggest problem is I don't think I can make the chassis accurate enough with my tools and skills. I am considering a rather large build about 2' X 2' so I can mount multiple work pieces on the table. I have been looking at chassis kits from CNC Router Parts and Fineline Automation, are there others I need to consider? I engrave mostly on carbon steel pieces with some aluminum and plastic.
