Suddenly getting an error when using Siemens CYCLE974 Probe cycle.
error 21700 - Probe already deflected.

We have been using this cycle for the past 6 years with no issues.
A couple of weeks ago we smashed the probe into a part.
We changed the stylus and successfully probed a part with it except the Z reading was off .030” … good enough for what we were doing.

Maintenance then replaced the nose cover with another (from a parts probe)
Indicated in the stylus and we then successfully calibrated the probe.

After that, we started getting the error.
The control thinks the probe is already deflected.
It does it before any movement occurs.
Control reads two lines of probe parameters then the cycle is called.
As soon as it is called the error sets.

Ruled out vibration - can't be a programming issue - this is in a subroutine that we use for every specific part for the last 10 years.
Renishaw optical probe.
