Power supply bigger than suited for tube?

    Hey all.

I'm doing a build and will use a cheap 40w tube to get things up and running, when i have all the bugs ironed out i'll get a bigger laser in the range of 60-80w. If i buy an 80w power supply now, will i kill the 40w tube? Just trying not to buy 2 tube and 2 power supplies. Thanks!

Use Ammeter. Limit current by potentiometer on PSU to 18mA max. Have fun.

Hello. Yeah, you can use the 80w power supply with the 40w tube. However, you'd need to use a potentiometer to control the voltage level. That will make it suitable for your tube.
