    DIY CNC 3020 / 3040 / 6040 frames

    Hi,

Does anybody build this CNC (same frame comes in different size):

I've bough one 3020 and will build it. I can't find any related info about it in internet (no reviews, no build logs).
Machine comes with wire routing parts (drag chains, wires, etc) but no instructions or schemas, and the pictures are not very explicit.

Thanks in advance for all the info I can get about it,
    Martindb

Go on UTUBE and browse for what you want.

I thought the 3020 and others from China came fully assembled and all you had to do was add water and an egg to bake a cake ........metaphorically speaking.

There ARE videos on UTUBE of a 3020 (Chinese origin) being unpacked.......is that too difficult?

Perhaps the ones you show are not from China......best of luck.

I have a selection of pics from EBAY adds for the 3020 that show it in various angles of view.....that would make it easy even for a kid to do.

Yes, at youtube there are a lot of cnc 3020, but not exactly this frame. I bought the frame unassembled.
Cable management for the X axis comes "inside" the gantry, but no details.

Here there is a fully assembled machine with this frame, but not to much details

Did you buy the complete machine down to the last nut and bolt in pieces?......if you didn't then you will have a task to decide what more you'll need and where to get it.

If you want I can post a load of pics from previous adds on EBAY and that might give you an idea of what the parts look like and/or the method of assembly and fixing.

I bought the frame with steppers only.... just like this:

Please, if you have pictures post them so I can figure how it should be assembled.

    Regards,

Hi, looking at the model you linked to and I would have to say that is as good as it's going to get...........that is, if you can't assemble your model with those pics in the link, then the pics I have of a different model won't help you as they are different in their assembly.

The price indicated in the link is quite cheap.......but it's still just a set of basic parts........ you still have to supply all of the electronics and a spindle too and that will push you over the top more than if you bought on EBAY a model already assemble and ready to go out of the box.

What were you thinking........the only reason you would buy such a kit is when you already have all of the other parts etc, and are very knowledgeable about CNC electronics.

I think in this case you are a penny wise and a pound foolish.

Agree....You are going to have to find someone locally, that is knowledgeable, to help you, my friend.
I bought my 6040 four years ago and could not contemplate building a machine then. I could now though, but that not much help to you.
OR, sell it and buy a complete running CNC.

    Thanks to all.
I allready have steppers, drivers, spindle and vfd to mount it.
I'm not new to cnc, 2 years ago I built (and since run) a 3d printed cnc (https://www.v1engineering.com/assembly/)

I've found only this video in youtube of a complete machine using this frame:

I've started to mount the steppers and route the wires... It seems pretty straight forward.

    Good stuff.
I guess it will be a bit of trial and error.
Your not using shielded wiring for the motors?

Not really necessary for steppers. I know it is common, but overkill in my opinion. What I think might cause problems later is that he is using bare wires, not the type that is meant to be used in this sort of application with constant bending and twisting. The insulation, or the wires inside will wear out very fast, causing short circuits or connection issues, and in the worst case can even cause fire. So even if shielding is not necessary, better quality wiring is definitely a MUST.

Thanks for your comment. Which type of wire it's used for steppers?

I'll use shielded cable for the spindle.
