    Mach3 Windows 10 64bit 1803 Provisional Patch

Like many in the CNC community, we and our customers have been affected by the Windows 10 (64bit), version 1803 update issue that leaves the Mach3 application unable to completely load (after profile selection, the splash screen will render and then disappear as the application crashes).

We've investigated the cause and developed a provisional patch to the Mach3 (version 3.043.062) application binary that has demonstrated effectiveness in resolving the issue. We are working together with the Mach development team to further validate this patch as they work to deliver an official release in the near future.

In the interest of helping those who have already been affected and can't afford to wait, we've decided to make the provisional patch available as an interim solution while the official fix undergoes further due diligence.

    Mach3 v.062 Provisional Patch > http://www.cncrouterparts.com/dl/mis...p001_patch.exe

    Before applying the fix, please ensure;

    1. Mach3 version 3.043.062 is installed. (.62 can be downloaded here)
    2. You are running Windows 10 64bit 1803 build

Please note that this is not an official patch from Artsoft and we are making it available "as-is" until an official release addressing this issue becomes available.

Congratulations and thank you! Even if it is unofficial and "as-is" I'd be very happy to try if I would have the problems and would depend on Mach3. Even though Mach3 is obsolete, it is really not good that it suddenly stops working, though the W10 1803 version is not yet globally distributed, which is good. Maybe there will be an 1804 soon, if more than Mach3 is affected, which will fix the issue.

As usual you all are on top of things and I really appreciate it! Great job!
I'm fairly new to this Mach3 thing, and A_Camera mentions that Mach3 is "obsolete". What other options are there for a CNCRP Pro machine that you all support? Mach4 yet?

After a recent windows seven 32 bit update my Mach 3 crashed. I could not use Mach 3 till I uninstalled all updates.I guess the culprit is somewhere in that bunch.

Windows 10 does not allow you to avoid updates. W10 Pro allows you to schedule and postpone but eventually it will be updated. The only way around is if you disconnect it from the Internet. This has the advantage that zombies will slowly but surely disappear from the face of the earth, but has the disadvantage of similar things happening. Otherwise, yes, a temporary solution for those who have problem is to remove the last update and take one step back.

Not true. You can disable the Windows Update service. Do this by opening Services, double-clicking on Windows Update, change Statup Type to Disabled, and then click OK.

Now if you already have updates pending and you see Update and Shutdown or Update and Restart in your Shutdown options, you'll need to attack that differently since those have already been identified by Windows Update before the service was disabled. Here is a link that shows ways to address this situation.

Are you talking about Windows 10 Pro? Last time I checked there was no way of completely and forever disable Windows 10 updates. I may be wrong or may remember it wrong, so I have to check it again, but as far as I know, there is no way to do it unless you hack Windows.

    Re: Mach3 Windows 10 64bit 1803 Provisional Patch

You can turn the service off, I had to do a similar thing for Windows Defender after it kept deleting legitimate files that it thought were "hack tools." Windows can be such a pain.

I checked this and the way I understand is that it prevents Windows from restarting after an update and will not propose it, but it will still get the updates according to the advanced settings in configuration of the update. In that window, there is a checkbox for other Microsoft products, as well as the ability to postpone functional updates (maximum 365 days) and quality updates (maximum 30 days) and you can pause an update by maximum 35 days. There is no way to completely turn off updates, which was one of the major news in Windows 10.

...but this is not a Windows 10 forum, so perhaps we should not discuss this, as it is basically a hijacking of this thread.

    Re: Mach3 Windows 10 64bit 1803 Provisional Patch

I went ahead and rolled back to 1709 and disabled windows update, also switched internet to metered. I'm a bit unclear on how long this will solve the issue. Is windows still going to eventually force the update on me? How long do I have? Am I better off allowing the update and downloading the patch? Or leave it how I have it until official patch is released?

The official patch has been released, but I think it's the same one posted here.

Well, I received the update today and not even tried to stop or postpone it. It took forever to finish and once it was ready it asked a lot of questions as well before it finally was really ready. Mach3 was not starting, as expected by now, and it was too late to update that. I checked UCCNC and my Ethernet Modbus interface and those were working.

I think you should update because it is better to do it under control and planned than being surprised at the most inappropriate moment. After all, Mach3 is fixed now.

I just tested. Installed Mach3, and after that the patch and Mach3 was up and running without problems after a few minutes.

It's been abandoned for years. Keeping it running doesn't change that.

I just did a fresh, full install of Windows 10 Pro 64 bit.
I let it do all the driver and windows updates including 1803.
I then installed Mach3 and it ran without the patch.

Yes, but even if it would work that way, it is pretty dramatic to do a fresh install of everything... OK, if you have time or MUST do it, but to get Mach3 working it is much easier to install the patch. Takes just a few minutes and nothing else is lost.
