Number of machining passes in Dolphin Wire EDM Module?

I was looking at the help file and noticed it listed a Roughing, and 2 trim passes. Is that an adjustable parameter if more passes are needed? I sometimes use 4 or 5 passes on my work so was curious.
    thanks,
    Ken

    Hello,

The maximum number of passes per operation is 3, rough, middle and finish.

However, you can copy n paste the operations to give 2 Goround commands, this will give a maximum of 6 passes. Paste again and this will allow up to 9 passes.

You will need to set each pass to be active and have the offset you require. Although we call the passes rough, middle and finish they can in fact be any sort of pass, there is no intrinsic data associated with each pass, it's just what you set on each tab.

    Hope this helps

    Hello Ken,

You don't need to use the notes in CAD, this was the process some years ago but has been overtaken by other settings on the Goround dialogue box.

But if you prefer, you can still use them in CAD as long at they go along with a corresponding "Start" note

The format for the notes is $S1 for the start of the Contour and $P1 for the pilot hole (note that S & P are upper case)

You won't see the note item in the EDM module but you will see a small blue triangle at the pilot hole position.

If you don't use the notes in CAD you can use the Options tab on the Goround command to enter a pilot hole position relative to the start point on the contour.

Thanks Andre, that worked. I was putting a note for the Pilot hole correctly, but not putting anything for the Start Position. Can a note be used at the end of an open profile to choose a point to lead off to?
    Thank you,
    Ken
