First, there are many variations of the CACR servo drives. Post your exact model number for servo motor and drive.
Second, you may be able to drive the 900W motor, but the drive you have can only provide a max of 500W.
Third, check that they are compatible ie encoder type, voltage, phase etc.
Do you have a copy of the manual? If not download one from the Yaskawa website.
Please explain or show pictures of what you mean "I can see the motor parameters" but cannot change them.
Hope this helps,

We had a CACR .9kw drive go faulty , as we had a spare CACR .5 kw we installed it as a replacement to drive the .9kw motor .
The motor has very little load and it seems to work but can hear its not performing to optimum.
the encoder parameters and phases are OK
I have tried to tune to a better PID but its still not 100%
The drive is CACR SR05BE12G-E
THE MOTOR IS USAGED -09A22K .85kW
Via the on board switches CN 00-05 i can see the motor parameters are .5kw
The .5kw and .9kw drive seem the same internal electronics and I was thinking there is an unload code to reconfiguration code to reconfigure the drive to .9kw

Your old drive can still be repaired, it could be only the caps need replacing, they are very old drives, these old drives can run other size motors, as you have found out, but they won't perform correctly, if the drives are the same which I doubt they are, the firm ware would have to be changed
