I recently hooked up 4 of my mills with the uc100 . One uc I've had for quite a while and finally decided to hook it up , 3 others were bought recently thru either cnc drive or their authorized resellers (not ebay knockoffs) .
The problem that I'm running into is with backlash compensation in mach 3 . if I run with it disabled then everything is fine , but when backlash comp is enables then the motors stall out or lose steps . I have tried every type of setting to resolve this issue but backlash compensation really reacts badly with the uc100 . These are sold as supporting backlash comp but I don't see it .
These mills have been running for yrs and they produce parts on a production scale daily and have been for all this time , and I've never had these types of issues . I've been able to tweak a couple of the mills to the point of almost being trust worthy , but it's almost since they still screw up and stall the motors or lose steps in clusters (if that makes sense) , I can hear it here and there as the axis's are moving around .
I contacted cnc drive yesterday with the hopes of getting some insight to resolve this but I haven't heard back , and with it being the weekend I don't expect to hear back till the beginning of the week .
As it stands I've pulled them off my mills until I can get a better understanding to if these actually support backlash comp or not . It 's a bit disappointing and I've also got one of their ethernet boards as well but I can't see that being any better .
Anyone have backlash comp working with the uc100 ? if so is there something you tweaked that I'm missing ?
