    Anchors vs Carriage bolts

I am crossing one 8020 3060 over the top of an 8020 3030 at 90 degrees. Is it stronger to use carriage bolts and U bolt plates or counterbores with anchors?

Hey thereBased on your 90 degrees arrangement, Counter bores with anchors is a better option. They are stronger than carriage bolts, Counter bores give room for such arrangement.

Carriage Bolts (https://www.albanycountyfasteners.co...olts-s/281.htm) have their own strengths and they are good when you have to attach metal with metal or metal with wood.
Here I prefer Concrete Anchors aka Strike Anchors (https://www.albanycountyfasteners.co...SLPAnchors.htm).
Strike anchors or concrete anchors are used in applications including solid concrete. These are considered as an impact expansion type of anchor. Concrete anchors consist of four main parts, the body, drive pin, a nut, and a washer. The nut and washer are coated in yellow zinc. The body is made up of carbon steel and has an interior hole that is the entire length of the anchor. There are many types of concrete anchors available in the market. These include hammer-set anchors, lead screws anchors, anchor bolts, plastic wall plugs, and many others. These anchors are considered light-duty, medium-duty, or heavy-duty but that is based on how much weight these anchors can support.
