6.5w air solenoid directly to g540 without relay?

setting up my mist coolant with g540, mach3. my air solenoid is rated at 6.5w (0.54a, 12v). g540 output can handle up to an amp right? so should be fine without a relay? or bad idea?

Yes you should be fine to drive the solenoid directly. The G540 outputs also have the fly back diodes built in as well.

Excellent, thank you. That will clean things up nicely. One more question, if I ever add a second solenoid, is it 1 amp limit per g540 output, or 1 amp total for all outputs?

    Hi,
Yes it is 1A per output.

Another method if a VFD is used, is to operate the solenoid from a VFD output which can be either set to turn on/off by the At Zero or At Speed parameter.
A manual SW can be introduced if over-ride is needed.
