How to use Z Axis Pre-setter Tool Setter?

Could someone please explain how to use this z axis setter? And, it has two set screws underneath but what do they do?

Re: How to use Z Axis Pre-setter Tool Setter?

the bar is for calibration. Lay it across the piston and the side of the setter, pushing it all the way down. The dial indicator should read zero. Put the setter on top of your part and bring the tool down until the dial reads zero. Knowing the height of the tool setter (usually 2" or 50 mm) you now have your tool height. Enter the tool setter height in the Z column of the G54 offset table and you're good to go.
