Is the CNC Zone website no more? Had to post this on IndustryArena.

I have a 240VAC to 120VAC single phase control transformer(open frame). Do i ground it at the frame of transformer?

Trying to install Kmotion.exe V4.34 on Windows 7 Home Premium. I get the failed to install drivers so i used the manual Quickstart section and got the window that the drivers are not Digitally signed. So i selected the option to install anyway. After drivers appear to install i get this window....

    Hi Troy,

That usually indicates all the Windows Upates haven't been installed so all the Windows Signing methods work correctly.

Do you have all Windows Updates installed? Is this W7 32bit or 64bit?

No. I usally try to stay away from Windows updates unless needed. Espically after all the win 10 hidden updates. Is there any certain windows update patch you know of or do i need to update everything?
    It is 64bit.
    Thanks,
    Troy

Nobody seems to know the magic patch that solves the problem.
On new computers/reinstalls for any machines, I normally just install all updates, then disconnect it from the internet, and only re-connect when needed.

If it's a computer without easy/good internet access, check out WSUS Offline (WSUS Offline Update - Update Microsoft Windows and Office without an Internet connection). You can either run it on an internet connected computer and download all updates before installing them, or run it on the computer you want to update first to get a list of all needed updates, before downloading them on another computer and installing them.

    Hi Troy,

No sorry I don't know which Windows updates are required. I suspect any to do with 256 bit encription/digital chain of trust.

So after about 8gb of windows updates i still get the same failed window i posted in previous post. Tried uninstalling Kmotion and uninstalling device from port. Then reinstalling and using a different USB port, but still same issue.

Got it. Did another uninstall except this time when uninstalling from device manager i remembered to select the check box to remove files. After this i reinstalled kmotion software, plugged in KFLOP to USB. Then in Device Manager i updated driver for Kflop and selected USB Driver folder in Kmotion434 folder. Got the unsigned driver warning, but selected to install anyhow. All looks good now.
    Now on to the configuring

    Hi Troy,

Sorry you had so much trouble and thanks for posting back.

We will add the remove software option to our quickstart guide.

Started a thread on the Dynomotion forum for the servo tuning part of this build. Might make it easier for someone else to find an follow.

So thinking I might have a noise gremlin iam rechecking my wiring and have a question concerning drains on cabling controlling two 24VDC mechanical relays. Currently I have a Coolant Pump relay and WayLube pump relay controlled by Kanalog SW5 and SW7. Each relay has its own shielded 2 conductor cable with drain. Where should this drain be connected?

    Re: SBL Magnaturn Retrofit

    Hi Troy,

Good question. It isn't really clear to me. I would consider the relay to be a source of noise. So the idea might be to contain the noise from radiating out to other things (as opposed to signal lines where the idea is to protect from noise radiating in). Note that relay coils should have a reverse diode placed across the coil to avoid a huge reverse voltage spike (spark) when turned off.

My thinking and the two possibilities I see are:

#1 - to Kanalog GND. The disadvantage here might be coupling the noise into Kanalog/KFLOP GND. But the relay coil circuit is already common GND to KFLOP/Kanalog so probably is already mostly coupled anyway.

#2 - to earth GND. The advantage being the noise collected would be drained away from KFLOP/Kanalog. The disadvantage might be that if earth GND is very noisy then that noise might be coupled into the cable and into KFLOP/Kanalog.

Normally the distance from Kanalog to the relays isn't long so it shouldn't be too important.

    Anyone have any opinions?

    Re: SBL Magnaturn Retrofit

I've never used shielded wiring for relays, but I always make sure the flyback diode is mounted to the relay terminals so the voltage spike is only recirculated at the relay/base, not through all the wiring.

What makes you think you've got a noise problem?

I have diode on relays. Reason, iam thinking i have noise is problems with tuning servos. But that said, all tests i have done keep pointing to one of the 2 drives not responding correctly.

You have tried resetting the questionable drive, and ensuring all the parameters match a good drive?

I remember setting up my first drives (Kinco, not DMM), and I inadvertently changed a setting which destroyed the tuning. Doing a factory reset didn't reset the setting in question, and it took me comparing all the settings to a good drive to get tuning back on track.

Ya,done that a few times now. Replaced logic line filter thinking that was a problem and seemed to help a little, but still have same issue. Currently waiting on line filters for the main servo drive power.

If there was noise on a dc power supply wouldn't it show on an oscilloscope if i connected probes on output of power supply?
