Fanuc OM tool changer problem Kiwa (Excel 510)

    Hello All,

I have a Kiwa ( Excel 510) VMC (1985) with Fanuc OM controller.

The machine is new to me, so I am working out its quirks.

Everything seems to be OK except tool changer.

I can use the ATC via the manual mode, and change one tool at a time and that seems to work OK.

But If I call a tool change via a program T01 M6, etc, it does not work.
It will remove the tool from the spindle, spin the carousal apparently looking for a tool and then eventually time out lighting up the feedhold light.

If anyone can shed some light on this issue for me that would be great.
If you need specific info to help me, please let me know.

This will happen on the 510 if the machine is phased backwards. Be certain that the magazine numbers count up when you are rotating the carousal manually. If not, check the phasing on the machine. I attached a pdf that I wrote many years ago that shows how to adjust the tool changer on the 510.
