    TORMACH PRICE INCREASE

On another thread I asked about Tormach's price increases due to the new tariffs, but it turned into a political debate. I'm just interested to know how much Tormach is planning on raising prices.
Please stay strictly on this topic and not stray off on to politics.

What makes you think anyone here will have any useful insight on something Tormach themselves have not yet announced publicly?

The tarriffs went up by about 21% (from about 4% to 25%.)
We can assume that base import costs is about ... 50%? of the retail cost. If that is the case, I'd expect them to raise prices by about 11%.
Of course, we don't know how much their base cost is. Could be less, could be more. We also don't know how much margin they're willing to give up to retain sales volume. As they raise prices, they will sell less, and worst case, they need to raise prices MORE to compensate.

Another poster on the other thread said he had gotten a notice from Tormach about the price increase, but he did not say how much.

They announced, weeks ago, a price increase due to having NOT increased prices in several years. I saw nothing to suggest that took into account the tariffs that JUST went into effect a few days ago. My guess is there will be a second, MUCH larger increase coming soon...

    Re: TORMACH PRICE INCREASE

I called Tormach yesterday and from what they are saying, they do not see any substantial increase in their price. I'm assuming maybe they built that into the new price increase in June.... Also does not affect the stock they have that's already landed. Maybe they over ordered knowing about the possible tariffs.

That may have been me. I think that notice was before the Tariff announcement though. I think THAT new price is already in place.

What about buyers not living in America and order a Tormach to be delivered direct from China. Will they still be subjected to the same increase, even though the Machine is not imported via the US !

I certainly hope that Tormach has a plan for non-US purchasers.

The price increae you quoted me about had nothing to do with tariffs. It was announced across the board BEFORE any tarrifs were announced. Why in the heck would that price increase apply only to Americans?

Because only Americans voted for Trump!
Then I thought John's post explained the reason quite clearly.

    Simple!
It would be entirely up to Tormach.

Oh and I think free shipping is only in America.

It is, especially for the usable size and how slow it is. And if you actually want a turret and to be able to use it you are in the $22k range.
